As President and Founder of WTS International, Mr. Henkin has over 30 years of experience in the planning, design and management of health clubs, spas and fitness facilities of all types. He has also coordinated and developed numerous needs assessment studies for prospective spa and/or health club properties. WTS International has grown during the past three decades to become one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing fitness and spa consulting and operating firms. At present, the firm has approximately 1,000 employees worldwide and provides its services to hotels, resorts, luxury residential properties, exclusive golf and country clubs, day spas and real estate developments throughout the United States and overseas. A frequent speaker at industry and real estate conventions, Mr. Henkin has also published numerous articles related to spa design, health club design and fitness and spa management in such publications as Real Estate Today, Hotel Business, Club Management, Club Business Magazine, Real Estate Forum, Resort Management Magazine, Club Director and Boardroom. His speaking engagements include addresses to the attendees at B.O.M.A. (Building Owners and Managers Association), I.H.R.S.A. (International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association) and Club Managers Association of America national conventions. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in 1966. Presently, Mr. Henkin resides in Maryland with his wife and is active in a number of Washington, D.C. charitable foundations.

For over fifteen years, Scott Krosnowski, has been extensively involved in the financial and information technology operations for resort, residential and private club spas and fitness centers throughout the United States and abroad. Mr. Krosnowski specializes in spa and fitness accounting, forecasting and financial reporting. His expertise ranges from constructing financial budgets for new facilities in their pre-opening stages to auditing and recommending growth strategies for existing properties.

In addition, he is responsible for site software selection, specifically client and staff systems that provide data and reports essential to efficient spa and health club management. Mr. Krosnowski works closely with our clients and staff, ranging from architects and developers to general managers and spa directors, to develop and implement the most appropriate and cost effective financial and information technology systems and procedures.

Mr. Krosnowski graduated from the American University in Washington D.C. with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with focus in Accounting and Finance.

Ralph Newman

Ralph Newman has been active in the spa, fitness and wellness industry since 1978. Joining WTS International in 1998, Mr. Newman oversees development and operations for WTS affiliated leisure properties. Mr. Newman received a BA from The University of Virginia and an MA in Exercise Science from George Washington University. He worked for the Department of Defense for over 11 years in management, educational and research capacities where he concluded his career in the public sector as an Assistant Professor at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. In 1989, Mr. Newman joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts where he developed and managed their flagship spa and fitness facility at their Georgetown property in Washington, D.C. for almost a decade. He also worked on the conceptual development, spa design and fitness design for numerous other Four Seasons’ properties throughout the United States and Canada prior to joining WTS. Mr. Newman has been a frequent lecturer on design and operations of spas and health club facilities at industry conventions nationwide. Most recently, he moderated the spa panel at the Condo Hotel Conference.
Kim Matheson Shedrick

Kim Matheson was president of her own company, Natural Resources, for 15 years, offering spa consultancy services including design and pre-opening support, for a diverse range of upscale clients including hotels, resorts, residential and real estate developments. Some of Kim’s most recent projects are the Four Seasons Moscow, Dubai, Disney Orlando and New York. Other recent five-star projects include Dove Mountain Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis Princeville. Matheson has also worked for Montage, Rosewood Menlo Park, Kiawah Island and Doonbeg, and Lapis at Fontainebleau.

As Senior Vice President for WTS based in New York City, Kim’s primary responsibilities include developing the local market and new business opportunities while overseeing international accounts. Kim also assists in the development of new spa concepts and provides advice to WTS clients on retail sales and marketing.

Jackie Henkin, Senior Vice President, Business Development, directs all sales efforts, proposal submissions, and works closely with the Business Development team to develop new relationships. She also oversees WTS recruitment efforts. Over her 20+ years at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo, Jackie secured significant funding for Zoo facilities, exhibitions and special events through corporate sponsorship. Jackie introduced the Zoo’s popular Halloween event and annual winter lights festival, ZooLights, bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars in monetary support, product donation, and media coverage. She also planned and executed the successful introduction of the Zoo’s first temporary art exhibit in 2016, Washed Ashore, overseeing its three-month presentation to the public as well as publicity and fundraising efforts. Jackie built long-term relationships on behalf of the Zoo with major corporations ranging from State Farm to The Coca-Cola Company and secured millions of dollars in advertising support for the Zoo. Jackie holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Washington University in St. Louis.

Chris Griebe is a graduate of the Organizational Leadership MBA program at Grand Canyon University and earned a masters degree in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics from University of California, Fullerton. Chris has been working in the public and private health and wellness fields for over 20 years. He began his career as a personal trainer with a passion for wellness and improving clients’ lifestyles. Over the years he has been managing multi-site wellness centers, private clubs, hospital systems, and national fitness resorts with expertise in large-scale, multi-site organizational management, new business acquisition, team transition, and operational efficiency.

Janice brings over 27 years of experience in the beauty and wellness industry. She worked for companies such as Elizabeth Arden and the Aveda Corporation; most recently as the Vice President of Spa Operations for Serenity Day Spas, owned by the Sport & Health Clubs. Janice assisted in the launch of the successful Serenity Day Spa brand and was responsible for the development of their revenue focused marketing plan, collateral development and operational and training procedures. She also served as a mentor for their team of Spa Directors. Janice’s years of experience within the day spa market will bring a unique perspective to WTS spa sites to increase local capture rates. As Senior Vice President, Spa Operations, she oversees the operations for the WTS spa portfolio of accounts and is responsible for maintaining successful operations, guest experience, marketing and financial performance.

Susan started as a marketing intern with WTS in 1996. After graduating from Penn State with a degree in Marketing and International business, Susan immediately began working as a WTS Fitness Director within the Hilton Corporation, while pursuing a master’s degree in Health Fitness Management. In 2000, Susan moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands to become the Fitness and Spa Director for the Westin Resort St. John. From there, Susan went on to become the Director of Spa Services for the Sanderling Spa, a Condé Nast Gold winner. After successfully completing the million dollar expansion of the Sanderling Spa, Susan became a regional account executive for WTS in North Carolina. From this role, Susan easily made the transition to WTS’ Vice President, Spa Division.
Catherine Warren

A veteran in the spa and fitness community, Catherine is known for her creativity and influence throughout the spa and resort world.  She is regularly featured as a contributor in multiple major beauty, spa and wellness publications, as a guest expert on South Florida television programs, as a speaker and presenter at several of the industry’s international events and conference such as ISPA in Las Vegas, Nevada, ECA 350 Fitness in New York, New York, and World Spa & Wellness Convention in London, England, and has served as the creative director of notable events such as Eau Spa Mad Hatter’s Party, The Palm Beach Film Festival’s “Old Hollywood” Event, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Gala Kick-Off, and the Worth Avenue Yachts’ “Spa Yacht Hop.”

Most notably, under her direction, Eau Spa received the coveted Forbes Five-Star rating for three consecutive years, one of less than 60 spas in the world to receive this prestigious honor.  Loyal to the WTS International family since 2010, Catherine received the 2016 WTS Manager of the Year Award as the Spa Director at Eau Spa at formerly The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach and presently Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Palm Beach, Florida, and served prior at My Spa at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami, Florida.  Her list of accomplished positions includes Vice President of Health & Wellness for Carillon Miami Wellness Resort, IBS spa software consultant in Richmond, Virginia, Medical Spa Director and Assistant Athletic Director at the Atlanta Athletic Club, and onboard Spa Manager with Steiner Leisure in the Hawaiian islands.  In addition, Catherine also worked for the Birmingham News/Birmingham Post Herald in Birmingham, Alabama, earning her way from a Marketing Coordinator to a President’s Award winning Advertising Account Executive.

Throughout her career, and as a frequent award winner, she has been repeatedly recognized for excellence in content creation, social media, training, revenue growth and management, standard operating procedures creation, membership management, account maintenance, problem solving, and sales staff support.  She earned a BFA in Fine Arts from Clemson University and as an MFA candidate at the University of Alabama, she has participated in specialized fine arts studies semesters in India and Italy, and is a graduate of ITM in Chaing Mai, Thailand.

Catherine continues to set a high bar in the highly competitive spa and hospitality industry, overseeing WTS luxury spa training with expertise in Five-Star standards. She works with the entire portfolio of WTS spa and wellness clients throughout the world. Catherine was just named a 2018 American Spa Magazine “Top 5 Spa Influencers.”

Dr. Abhishek Jain brings two decades of extensive experience in luxury hospitality, spa & wellness industries during which he worked on numerous feasibility studies, concept development, and design inputs for new properties as well as pre-opening and successful operations of award winning properties worldwide. Dr. Abhishek is recognized as industry leader in the South Asian region and is regularly invited to speak at industry events such as Arabian Travel Market, World Spa and Wellness Convention, ITB Asia as well as national conferences such as Dept. of AYUSH, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Wellness Conference and many others. He holds a degree in Integrative Medicine along with a Masters in Hospital & Health Systems Management from renowned BITS, Pilani in India, while also having completed a Certification Program in Strategic Hospitality Management from Cornell University and General Management Program from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India.

Under his direction, properties he has worked with have won frequent notable awards including Condé Nast Traveller’s Best Overseas Spa Retreat as well as Best Destination Spa for Oasis Spa at The BodyHoliday, St. Lucia, Caribbean (2011) and, Conde Nast Traveller’s Favourite Hotel Spa in India (2014) and Travel + Leisure’s Best Destination Spa in India (2015) for ESPA at The Leela Palace, Udaipur, India. As WTS’s in-house attorney, John leverages over a decade of corporate governance experience to provide counsel on all aspects of WTS’s operations. After receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law, John began his career working under general counsel at an international business-to-business payment firm in Washington, DC. Later, he co-founded his own legal practice and served as outside counsel to dozens of business clients from an array of industries. John then consolidated his experience into the role of WTS General Counsel, in which he drafts and negotiates the company’s many diverse contracts; oversees insurance and litigation; counsels on long-term strategic planning; and manages company-wide compliance with state and local regulatory requirements pertaining to facility operations and human resources.

For nearly two decades, Amy Gallogly has been involved in the leisure and recreation industry. During that time, Amy has gained expertise in all aspects of lifestyle programming, clubhouse operations and event management. She has assisted non-profit, resort, country club and community recreation properties during her successful career. In recent years, Amy’s focused on assisting master planned communities, residential high-rises, fitness centers and luxury resorts. Clients entrust Amy to increase exposure for their residential projects through the implementation of consumer events, grand openings and the creation of a vibrant and engaging community lifestyle. With an undergraduate degree in Commercial Recreation and Tourism from Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ, Amy represents WTS International as a Corporate Operations Director. Jamie has been involved in the wellness and fitness industry for over 20 years. Throughout his career, Jamie has held positions as Regional Personal Training Manager within medical facilities, General Manager at notable commercial health clubs, and most recently as a National Fitness Director for WTS International where he was tasked with providing support to a variety of health clubs located within hotels, residential properties, commercial clubs, and corporate facilities. In his current position, Jamie specializes in increasing revenue in fitness and memberships while streamlining operations for a wide array of WTS fitness accounts throughout the US. Jamie holds a Master’s Degree from the California University of Pennsylvania in Exercise Science and Health Promotion in Rehabilitation, along with a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Cincinnati in Exercise Physiology and Business Management. He has also been nationally recognized by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a recipient of the Pursuit of Excellence Award. Jamie is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and Performance Enhancement Specialist. A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park with a double degree, Henry comes to WTS with over 18 years of experience in the service and hospitality industry. After spending 6 years in the restaurant industry, Henry worked with Town Sports International for 9 years. During his tenure there, he served as a General Manager, Area Manager, Regional Sales Training Manager, and Manager of Training and Development. Henry was responsible for the design, implementation and oversight of all training for staff involved in sales, operations, and service and performance development.

As a WTS Corporate Operations Director, Henry is responsible for overseeing multiple mid-Atlantic accounts while also helping WTS with implementing major staff training initiatives including the WTS Learning Management System and Virtual Classroom.

Jenna Laramee

An experienced and results-driven leader in spa, fitness, luxury hospitality and preventive health, Jenna Laramee comes to WTS International after serving in Spa and Fitness Director roles with Hyatt, Ritz-Carlton and Canyon Ranch—providing leadership for spa operations ranging from $3 to $9 million annual revenue and 40 to 120 team members. She is an active Advisory Board Member with the Florida Spa Association where she has developed a vast network of partnerships amongst Florida Spa Industry professionals and plays a critical role in The Source, Florida Spa Association’s web-based educational platform for Florida Spa professionals including service providers, vendor partners and spa leaders. Jenna holds Master and Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Nursing, spending 10 years in Occupational Health, Wellness and Oncology prior to transitioning to Spa and Fitness management. Jenna has been a group fitness instructor in indoor cycling, weight, circuit and Interval training for over 20 years.

Notable accomplishments include her role in guiding the Canyon Ranch team to the Leading Hotel and Spa designation, her contributions as clinical researcher and co-author for the Journal of Occupational Medicine publication on the impact of health screening and coaching in cardiovascular risk reduction, recognition as a Ritz-Carlton 5-Star Leader and her long term participation in the Pan Mass Challenge, a 2-day Massachusetts charity cycling event to benefit clinical cancer research for The Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

As a Corporate Operations Director for WTS’ Spa Division, Jenna oversees clients in the Northeast region of the United States.

Evan Terry

Evan Terry has over 25 years of experience in business management for golf, fitness, lifestyle and wellness properties.  Evan comes to WTS with a strong background in fitness and racquet sports programming together with best practices of daily operations management.

Most recently Evan, was a Regional Director for multiple west coast private country club properties where he provided support to on-site management for fitness and racquet sport divisions. Evan has worked directly with General Managers, Club Directors and Club Board Members with a strong communication based partnership in all areas of club growth, member satisfaction and retention.

Evan was extensively involved in the development and implementation of Virtual Exercise and heart rate monitored training for private country club programing for members to maximize the benefits of results based personal training. Evan has strategic relationships with national fitness equipment manufacturers to maximize cost savings.

Early in his career, Evan spent many years as a racquetball player where he earned national titles as a top ranked singles and doubles player; he also represented the United States as a member of the US National Racquetball Team. When Evan is not working he enjoys keeping up with his own fitness goals, and spending time with his wife and their three sons.

Evan will utilize his vast skills working with multiple WTS fitness, wellness and lifestyle sites in the Southwest and Western regions of the US.

Valerie Prokhorenko

Valerie has enjoyed a career of almost 20 years in the luxury wellness and beauty arenas including beauty services, beauty retail, salon, spa, aesthetics and wellness real estate. Valerie was integral in development of the highest level of luxury branding within Emaar Hospitality Group, which earned “Best Unique Experience Spa” and “Best Luxury Destination Spa” in the World Luxury Spa Awards 2018.

Her career started with LVMH – Christian Dior (Perfume Division), where delivery of luxury experiences and impeccable guest services was uncompromising. Her work in the beauty and spa industries took her from practical and managerial experience in UK salons up to destination spa board director level. Her experience gave her a solid foundation for delivering exceptional results in services ranging from conceptual idea development and space planning to operational procedures and systems, furnishings and equipment, the creation of cutting edge spa menus, management and staff recruitment, and the introduction of new therapies. 

Valerie is highly regarded throughout the industry and is often asked to join advisory boards and consult for professional, trade and commercial organizations.

Mary Lynn Mellinger

Mary Lynn serves as the lead Project Designer for key accounts within the WTS portfolio. In her career as an interior designer she has designed a broad spectrum of hospitality projects including hotels, private clubs and senior living environments. Since joining WTS in 2014 she has designed spas for such hotel brands as St. Regis, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton and W, in the U.S. and abroad. She knows that designing with an operator’s eye makes all the difference in the successful result of a spa or leisure facility.

A graduate of Moore College of Art and Design, Mary Lynn is a licensed interior designer, having passed the profession’s benchmark NCIDQ exam for professional excellence and is skilled in AutoCAD and concept design. She is also LEED accredited, always working to incorporate sustainable building practices into her designs. Additionally, Mary Lynn’s background extends further into the health and wellness field as she is a certified yoga instructor involved in teaching people with special needs in the local community.

Susan Shanmugham

Susan Shanmugham takes the lead on fitness design projects within WTS. Her background in interior design for healthcare facilities and a passion for fitness naturally led her into the wellness arena. Joining the WTS design team in 2015, Susan quickly earned a reputation in the industry for being forward thinking and solution driven. She is constantly exploring the most up-to-date ideas in fitness; whether the latest technical features in equipment or the hottest new workout in town. She has led the design efforts for various private clubs, corporate facilities, multi-family residences and health clubs internationally.

Susan received a B.S. in Interior Design from Virginia Tech. Upon graduation, she focused on promoting wellness in healthcare facilities through evidence based design and sustainability. A LEED accredited professional, she has extensive knowledge about sporting facilities, having contributed to gymnasiums, stadiums and field houses while working in the education sector. She excels in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup and InDesign. Susan’s enthusiasm for fitness has led to her participation in numerous centuries (100 mile bike rides) and triathlons.

Theresa Van Deusen

Theresa Van Deusen, Project Designer, brings her knowledge and experience in hospitality interior design to the WTS design team.  She has designed hotel renovations for Marriott and Renaissance brands including concept development, specifications and renderings for guest rooms, public spaces and amenities such as fitness centers.

Theresa graduated from Chatham University with a B.S. in Interior Architecture and brings a wealth of wellness activities to the position of Project Designer.  She is proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup and other software related to design.  Swimming and aquatics have been a lifelong pursuit, and a passion for hiking and outdoor adventuring in our national parks are among her latest wellness activities.

Mary Simpkins

Mary Simpkins serves as the Corporate Marketing Director working with onsite managers to strategize, develop, train and implement programming and promotions that increase revenue and create awareness among target demographics. Mary works directly with WTS-identified advertising and marketing partners to ensure best practices and data-driven marketing is taken into account when developing the various onsite strategies.

Mary first joined WTS in 2006. She has worked in various roles as a Pre-Opening Task Force Member, Transition Manager, Interim Spa Director and Recruiting Specialist. She also took the lead in the development and implementation of the WTS Preferred Vendor Program and coordination of WTS’ internal communications. In 2011, Mary was promoted to Spa Director at Aura Spa & Salon in the four-diamond Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa. As Spa Director, Mary was responsible for all spa marketing and daily operations, significantly increasing revenues year-over-year during her time there. In 2013, Mary returned to corporate headquarters bringing operational expertise to her role as Marketing Communications Manager before becoming WTS’ Director of Marketing in 2018.

Pamela Bucklinger worked at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo for the last 20 years in various positions and ended her tenure as the Assistant Director of Corporate Programs. Pam’s responsibilities included creating fundraising programs to raise revenue for the Zoo, designing and implementing award-winning education programs, planning and executing large fundraising events, overseeing a large membership base, and creating corporate partnerships to strengthen the Zoo’s mission. Pam has a Master’s in Education and is a published writer.

As the Content Marketing Director, Pam’s primary responsibilities include developing high-impact marketing materials, both print and digital, as well as promotions and events, to help WTS clients build consumer participation and increase revenue.
